It looks really different and I am teaching a class on it in 2 hours and cannot get a book downloaded at the moment so not sure how it works....my handouts are now wrong for the Overdrive app and I am hoping it is just that the AR basement is not getting good reception.....but I did have a lady with an iPad call a while ago and had this update freeze her iPad so she could not use her books.........basically I think it will just be a matter of learning the new screens and buttons but it is really very different than before....be warned.......is anybody listening!!!!

Overdrive made what they call "the largest upgrade ever" to their app. One immediate problem, besides whatever functionality problems it may cause to various, is that the app is no longer available in the Kindle Fire app store.
On another note, I can now no longer find the 3M Cloud Reader app on goodereader.com. I last used it yesterday just fine, now it appears to be gone.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm starting to miss plain old paperbacks.

Wow. Okay so after having taught a couple of classes since this upgrade, I see that on some devices there is a big change to the look of Overdrive an on others, it looks the same, so I am guessing the new upgraded app is not yet upgraded or compatilbe on all devices, or at the very least, the old version of the app works on devices that have not upgraded their app. I had a heck of a time finding some menu and navigation options on some of the devices and finally figured out that swiping from the left when I was looking at the check out bookshelf in the database, would get me a menu to take me to the device bookshelf where the downloaded books are stored......why in the heck did they switch the eCheckout list to calling it the Bookshelf when we already had a place called bookshelf...ugh.......

With regards to the problem I noted about the app not being in the Kindle store, I noticed that Overdrive is now linking to various versions of the app if you go to their website on your device. There's a special link for Kindle Fire users, and two different links for people to use depending on what version of Android their devices are using.
And I made a separate post in the 3M category, but there is a new procedure for putting the 3M app on the Kindle Fire. You basically go to slideme.org, type in 3M cloud Library in the search box, and do the download. It's pretty simple, and it is 3M's officially sanctioned way of putting the app onto the Kindle Fire.
The version of the 3M app in goodereader is now specific to the Blackberry and another device I'm not familiar with, and will not even download onto the Kindle Fire.
Fun times!
