Hi all,
I've discovered that Apple has removed the One Click Digital Media Manager from the app store. I just spent 30 minutes talking to Apple about it, since One Click Digital's customer service center is closed.
I cannot currently verify whether the app is still available or not (I'll attempt to do so tonight). Apple's tech support person said he did not know why OCD had been removed, or when exactly it had been removed, or whether or not this is permanent.
At the moment, though, patrons cannot install the OCD Media Manager onto their Apple computers. There's no work-around that I can find at the moment, as all the other various online links invariable direct people back to the Apple store.
I just wanted to give people a heads up on the problem. I'll send an email to Stacy and see if we can get more information from OneClickDigital themselves.
Thanks,
Sean

I found out a little more about this problem. The patron I was working with called OCD to ask them about it, and was told the latest update of the OneClickDigital media manager does not--for some reason--work with Mac OS7 or 8. That's apparently why Apple has removed it.
OCD sent this patron a file containing an older version of the software, which I have stored. I was hoping to upload it as an attachment, but it's slightly too large for the message board to accept. If you find anyone needing the older version in the meanwhile, just shoot me an email and I can forward it over.
Hopefully this will all be very temporary anyway and these notes will be meaningless within a few days.

Instead of the library being responsible for sending patrons a copy of software which has been pulled from Apple and is not being wholly backed by OneClick Digital itself, it would be safer to direct patrons to the instructions on the OneClick Digital help tab that give instructions on manual downloading the One Click MP3 books to the iTunes software when they are wanting to listen to the audiobooks on their mac computers. This is the best alternative because they are all going to have iTunes on their mac computers anyway and they can easily transfer the audiobooks to another device from iTunes. Sending patrons software that is not available through the traditional means and is not endorsed by the company could create a liablity we do not want to get into and we also will avoid having to provide support for this software if we just go with the manual download instructions as provided by One Click. Here is the link to that info: 0-jeffersoncoco.oneclickdigital.com.sable.jefferson.lib.co.us/Help/~/media/3DA62CB151B3475FBECE73B6000BCCB7.ashxHopefully they will take down the link for the Digital Manager soon to avoid this confusion and I will remind them to please remove it next time I have to email them.

Okay, got info from OneClick that the Digital Media Manager for Mac is only temporarily removed and they are working on fixes for the issues so it should be back up and available at some point and they said they would let me know when it was available again. I will post that info here also.
