Hi everyone,
I believe Cindy is bringing around the new D2Pads to staff who purchased them. I was interested to see what your all's feedback is on them with installing Zinio, Overdrive, 3M, and especially OneClickDigital. Would you all post your experiences when you get a chance to download those apps (assuming you intend to in the first place). It'd be great to hear about any quirks, etc, in advance. Thanks!
Sean

These should work just like any tablet that you download an app to....that being said, I have not worked enough with Zinio to know that that goes. One thing that I have noticed with Android tablets is that the date and time settings have to be correct and set manually for everything to work correctly with ADE. Honestly, date and time settings are the number one issue I have found when having issues with Overdrive Downloads....so keep this in mind when helping patrons.

It appears the K9 browser, which we install as part of the processing and want patrons to use for Internet searching, cannot play Youtube videos. This may be a Flash-player problem, but I'm not sure. It reminds me of the browser on the original Nook Colors, which also will not play videos.
I was teaching a class to two patrons who each checked a D2 out, and they wanted to know what the tablets could do besides downloading books. Thinking that playing videos would excite them, I was sort of left hanging when the browser would't cooperate.
Later on, with another D2, I verified the same problem and then checked Google Chrome, which remains on the D2 but is hidden away, does play these videos, so it wasn't simply a function of the D2's operating system.
Basically I wanted to report this because I think kids and teens are going to want to access Youtube, Vine and other video sites, and it appears they're going to be frustrated by the K9 browser and might complain.

Hi Sean.....very good observance....trying to figure out who you should send this too (as no one will see it on here, and I think it does need to be addressed and the word spread. I will forward this message on to Cindy and see if she can get it to the right hands.....
