Currently, there's no way to get the 3M app for the Kindle Fire on Amazon.com. Much like Overdrive before it, 3M does have a direct download link for the app which will install it onto the Kindle Fire (at least the first generation--I don't know if this will work for the new HD models or not). Using the Kindle Fire's browser, put in this link - ebookdownload.3m.com/apps/android/3mcloudlibrary.apkIt will download the app, and then you install it. I've put it on SL's Kindle Fire as an experiment and so far it is working fine. I just wanted to pass this along in case you have patrons who want to use the app but are frustrated because it cannot be found on Amazon. The link is being provided by several library systems for their Kindle Fire patrons, which is how I found it, so hat tip to all of them. Sean

The link I sent may no longer be working. I tried helping a patron install the 3M app on a brand new Kindle Fire last night, and even using a download manager I kept getting a "download error" message.
It's difficult to know if the link no longer works, or if a server was down, or if it was just an issue with that particular Kindle Fire. I just wanted to pass on the negative result I had with the link last night.

I've found a much easier workaround to put 3M on the Kindle Fire and other android devices that aren't recognized by Google Play. The site is called goodereader.com, in case you aren't familiar with it (I was not, but I'm finding it has a lot of good stuff). The direct link for the app is at apps.goodereader.com/android-apps/e-reader-apps/?did=12496This will allow direct download of the app without the need of any download manager, etc. I think you'll find it's much simpler to use than the old method I had posted.
