I don't know anything about this one but if anyone comes across it, give us a description here. I am guessing it will have and Overdrive app? OneClick? Kindle?

I worked with a patron last week who had the Microsoft Surface which is the tablet released in Oct. 2012. We could not download the Overdrive App or created an Adobe account. Any thoughts?

I also ran into a patron who had trouble downloading the app for Overdrive on their surface tablet;-( I know that the Overdrive app is supposedly in the App store for Windows but am not sure what the issues are. I really won't know until I get my hands on one, or until someone brings theirs in for help.
I will go ahead and send an inquiry into to Overdrive since we have 2 instances of the Surface tablet not working......and will see what they say. Let me know if anyone has any other experiences.

Based on some very limited experience, it seems to be a difference in what version of the Surface patrons got. The Surface RT is a bit more stripped down (though it can still run Word, etc), while the Pro version can do just about everything. Also, it appears Surface RT does not actually use Windows 8 as its operating system, while Pro does. Pro is also the only one that will let users install third party software. I was never able to get Overdrive installed on the Surface RT of the one patron I've assisted.

I found this very good guide for Overdrive issues with the Tablet: www.brownsburg.lib.in.us/NEWsite/NewPDFS/Windows8eBook.pdfMost helpful are the instructions to help patrons/librarians determine whether the device is running RT or Windows 8. The overall installation instructions seem a bit complicated. Regarding the 3M app, the latest news from 3M says they are "developing" an app that will work with the RT operating system but do not have it yet. As of right now, 3M will not install on the Surface Tablet. The Zinio app should work just fine. I have no idea what the One Click Digital app will do. It seems iffy half the time on any device. ;D
